This goes way beyond “Hath God Said?” So far in fact that we have gone to the far polar opposite: from Eve doubting God’s word to Eve putting words in God’s mouth. [Read...]

Salvation... From What?

What does it mean to be saved? When we talk about "salvation", what is that we expect to be "saved" from?

The truth is that salvation means to be saved from God!

Jesus' central message was an admonishment for us to flee the wrath that is to come. That wrath which he himself came to warn us against, and to deliver us from.

Repent. For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand...

With that kingdom comes the judgment of the world, and with that judgment comes the wrath for those who are not sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ, who have not had their filthy clothes cleaned and made spotless.

Those that remain uncleaned face the wrath of God.

It is this wrath that Jesus tells us to flee.

We flee the wrath only by fleeing to him for cleaning, for forgiveness, for salvation from the wrath that is to come.

He is the only who can do it, and best of all, he takes great joy in doing it. He's willing to do it for the mere asking and believing that it has been done for us.

God is "angry with the wicked every day..." but he is also patient. He has provided Jesus Christ for us, and is now, with the supreme patience that only he can muster, waiting on us... giving us every opportunity... to do the works of God.

And those works are easy to the soul that is open to the work of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus told us to "do the works of God...", he also told us what those works are:

And this is the work of God: that you believe in him whom he has sent..."

That's at once supremely easy to some, and an utter impossibility to others. Now there's a hard saying. But I didn't write it. It doesn't stand on my testimony. Those are the words of Jesus Christ.

If you have a problem with it, then take it up with him... And I implore you to do just that. For Heaven's sake, please DO take it up with him...
